If you think the social media platform Pinterest is just for sharing recipes and wedding ideas, think again.  Top real estate agents use Pinterest to add value to the public while driving significant traffic and potential clients to their agent websites and blogs.  Before examining why and how REALTORS® are using Pinterest to generate online leads, watch as Tyler Zey, Founder of Easy Agent Pro, reveals his strategies for agents to generate business on Pinterest.

Why Real Estate Agents Are On Pinterest

Pinterest is an image sharing site that appeals to more mature users with higher incomes than other social media platforms.  So agents are more likely to connect with individuals who have the ability to purchase or sell real estate on Pinterest by actively “pinning” images that the public wants to see on “boards” that are categorized by different topics or themes.  REALTORS can link these images to related content on their agent websites and blogs to increase site traffic so that their websites get noticed by search engines like Google.

Pinterest Real EstateEase of use also makes Pinterest very attractive.  It takes just a few minutes to pin an image to one of an agent’s boards and link it back to the agent’s website.  It takes even less effort to share the pin on other social media channels like Facebook as well.  Plus, statistics have repeatedly shown that posts of images get more responses on Facebook than other types of posts.  It only takes the public two clicks to get from Facebook through to an agent’s website.  Plus, once someone gets to an agent’s board on Pinterest they will likely see similar images that also link to content on the agent’s website or blog.

How REALTORS Should Use Pinterest

In order to attract users to content on Pinterest, it is important add value by contributing images that potential real estate clients are looking for.  It is also preferable that pinned images be reasonably related to content featured on agents’ real estate websites and blogs.  REALTORS should create boards with central topics or themes that are real estate relevant so that multiple images can be linked to the same content on an agent’s website.  Some example of themes for real estate agent boards on Pinterest might include:

  • REALTOR PinterestLocal City/Area Travel Images
  • Real Estate Industry Infographics
  • Home Repair/Remodel Tips
  • Local Businesses
  • Home Decor
  • Local City/Area Amenities
  • Local Arts & Entertainment
  • Specific Neighborhood/Community Images
  • School & School District Information
  • Local Parks & Recreation Activities

All of these topics provide content that the public frequently searches for on the internet.  Pinterest even makes it easy for agents to locate and pin this information to their boards with the “Pin It” button.  Once added to the bookmark bar of a web browser, agents are able to select any image they happen to see online and add it to a board with a single click.  Then it’s just a matter of linking the image to the agent’s website or blog by entering the website address or URL of the desired page on the agent’s site. Simple, easy, and highly effective.
