Confusion between realtor assistant duties and the responsibilities of sales agents can make or break a real estate agent or team’s success.

For a realtor assistant, keeping the business running means keeping the agent’s focus on business-generation. As a result, realtor assistants must handle anything that might take their time and attention away from that. The goal is to make sure that agents take on NO other duties or tasks.

Real estate agents have four responsibilities: listing property, showing property, negotiating contracts, and generating leads. The agent is the rainmaker. Consequently, everything else is the responsibility of the realtor assistant. Also be sure to remember that the relationship is mutually beneficial and symbiotic. In other words, the more business that an agent can generate, the more income that both the agent and the realtor assistant can earn.

Watch as Icenhower Coaching & Consulting’s founder Brian Icenhower further explains the symbiotic relationship between realtor assistants and sales agents in the following video:

Consequently, the job description of a realtor assistant contains all of the responsibilities other than listing property, showing property, negotiating contracts, and generating leads.

Realtor Assistant – The Backbone

Further, realtor assistants are hired to be the backbone of the real estate office. They provide the fundamental structural support and balance that keeps everything upright. Therefore, realtor assistants enable flexible motion and help to coordinate everything.

Conversely, real estate agents are the muscle—the engine that propels the business forward and keeps it moving in a different way. For instance, muscles turn fuel into motion just like agents turn leads into clients and income. It’s impossible for us to do anything without our muscles. Similarly, a real estate agent’s business will collapse financially if the agent is inactive and stops moving.
